Wrong Turn

wrong turn

There are some things you can never get,
There are some memories that return.
Bring a sad smile to your face,
You see, you yearn.
You fathom, what could have been.
If only, you could have avoided that one wrong turn.

You know you have moved on,
You realize,
That one dream is all but a lost cause.

Your heart still skips a beat once a while,
When inadvertently your subconscious remembers that smile,
You wonder if you had done enough,
If only, you could have avoided that one wrong turn.

You still cling to those memories,
You sometimes,
Suppress a tear silently threatening,
Etching to let loose by.

You wonder what happened to your rigid defenses,
It sometimes does get painful,
To return to your senses.

You live the moments again,
But you know that it’s different.
You look to what’s written on the wall,
If only, you could have avoided that one wrong turn.

It was worth it, wasn’t it?
You slowly do get used to the idea.
You think you never want to know,
What if, you could have avoided that one wrong turn?

the dark knight

“you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain”

the shadow lingers long,
the legend lives on.
thrown to unforgiving history,
silence overshadows-
the sound of his cowl.

” No, *this* is your mask. Your real face is the one that criminals now fear. The man I loved – the man who vanished – he never came back at all. But maybe he’s still out there, somewhere. Maybe some day, when Gotham no longer needs Batman, I’ll see him again. “

love lost, love snatched,
as a kid, a prince, an orphan.
surrounded by darkness, a light remained,
sacrificing it all, he struggled to stand tall.

” When I told you that if Gotham no longer needed Batman we could be together, I meant it. But now I’m sure the day won’t come when *you* no longer need Batman.”

finding what he lost,
losing what he finally found.
the hero was broken,
the madman took it all.

“Madness, as you know, is like gravity. All it takes is a little push”

survived the battle,
took a million scars.
became a shadow of,
the shadow he was.

“When a forest grows too wild, a purging fire is inevitable and natural.”

never did expect,
always delivered and left.
trusted two face to work on the right,
but the world was black and so was the coin.

“The night is darkest just before the dawn. And I promise you, the dawn is coming”

the dawn came, it lasted some years,
the city of crime, it thrived on fear.
the caped crusader was needed no more,
disappeared from the world, as did Bruce.

“I was wondering what would break first. Your spirit.. or your body”

left his face, the mask,
a recluse, a pariah.
came out after a decade,
to face a foe stronger in ever way.

“You merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it.”

angry, hurt,
distrusting, unearthed.
took on his end with his bare hands.
left to rot,
left to die,
while his city burnt in ashes.

“How can you move faster than possible, fight longer than possible without the most powerful impulse of the spirit: the fear of death ? ”

realization dawns, he isn’t the same he was.
curtains fall, who can carry the symbol forward.
the world might never know who he really was,
but the world will always understand what he stood for.

“because he’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we’ll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight. “

Dream

I dreamt a dream last night,
It reminded me of you.
I was happy as one could be,
Till I woke up without you.

It wasn’t possible,
I pondered for a while.
You were lying in here with me a moment earlier.
Now it’s me,
And my shallow insides.

Then I thought a little more,
Of what was it that brought me smile.
The dream is a reflection of the subconscious after all,
Was there a hope of something good rotting in the deep contours of my mind?

Does one really have time for happiness?
Does one really care if it’s the day or the night?
We have become so engaged in our own pile of crap,
Slumbering on a couch networking online is living life king size !

Whatever happened to the simple joys of life,
Whatever happened to having fun without being high.
I am trying to discover, to dare find a balance,
Till then, I will remember you my friend,
Who visited me one fine night,
And left without that cursed goodbye.

chalo,
kahin chalte hain.
jo naa kiya gaya ho,
wo ik kaam karte hain.

chalo,
kahin gungunaate hain.
paani mein tair bhanwron samaet,
koi nayi dhun banaate hain.

chalo,
kahin udte hain.
parindon ki chaanv mein,
door basera dhoondte hain.

chalo,
phir se jeete hain.
rookhi ho chuki hai jo,
zindagi hari karte hain.

chalo,
kahin chal saath badhte hain.
daud bhaag ke thak chuke,
ek dooje ke liye rukte hain.

chalo,
sang safar karte hain.
khud ke liye jeete,
khud pe marte hain.

I’ve got minutes left,
An hour at max.
Tell everyone I loved them,
To remember me, when I am laid to rest.

And you my love,
I have my thanks to say.
To hold me when the world was black,
When everything good seemed at bay.

I look back and I see it all,
What could have I done different.
A solitary reaper may one lament,
The wrongdoings I didn’t get a chance to pay.

What would I not give,
To have you again in my arms.
Touch you, kiss you, feel you,
Breathe with you each breath.

Haven’t said it enough as I may have liked,
Haven’t said it enough that you deserve.
You are the one I have always loved,
Every fleeting second of each passing day.

And I hope you forget,
Me not being perfect.
I am sending a kiss sealed by the wind,
Let it rest a while on your cheek when it gets there.

Me. I’ll be happy by the thought,
Falling like a man,
Defending like a hero a soldier lives to be,
Smile caressing lips till I’m dead.

What can one say, the Mahatma is long dead

corruption, Gandhi, india, mahatma, Nehru, shame

Thank the Lord they cremated him for good,
Ponder a little, if only you would.

It would have hurt even in the grave,
To reside in a land, lived in by the dead.

There was a time when the industries were set,
The second five year plan was carved for the nation at unrest.
The capitalists then acted as socialists,
The major offices all were state‘s.

With all the trust chacha Nehru stood on,
Realizing the dream of a sovereign republic live long.
The Chinese betrayal took his life,
But worse was Kashmir on a hinge, up to debate.

We have made a progress since then,
Hundred crore scams the norm of the day.
With the nation now guided by a spineless center,
Who can show us the way, the common man banters.

They dystopia is looking down,
Malice in its eyes, carrying a frown.

We now settle the disputes by force,
Justice is nothing till it all does down.
“see! The riots in Gujarat were a mighty show,
Now the Muslims are afraid to strike any blow.“
Such (pitiful) views are endorsed by the party leaders,
Fills your eyes with sadness and throat with hunger.
True, the state is since riot free,
But the destruction left in the wake is for all to see.

The democratic cycle is completing a full round,
Tibet question still looms, as does the Himalayan crown.
The rage of the naxalites is still rampant,
The demands of Nagaland and Telangna still effervescent.

These were the same problems we had in the sixties,
Made much progress, really, have we?
Bending our backs to please the communist neighbour,
As the world celebrated year last, the year of the dragon.

So please don’t get me wrong when I say,
I am sure as glad the Mahatma is dead.

He smiles,
she laughs.
Feeling each other,
They touch.

Lost in embrace,
They try and remember,
What is it that’s so hard to forget?
If she could only shut it out,
As he tries to kill it off,
Forget conscience,
In the safety of others’ arms,
They smell.

Oblivious to the world,
She kisses the other,
on the neck he feels.
Shivers,
Feels his pulse rising, he.
Takes her into his arms,
Pinned to be one,
They hear, the heartbeat of the other.

The night was reaching its climax,
Or was it the day?
She couldn’t care less.
The moment belonged to her,
And no one else.
He was ecstatic,
No one could hold down what was his to own.
Treading along the wanderlust,
Bodies against bodies,
Lips against limbs,
On the taste, they feast.

Slept peacefully after making love,
Molding it, perfecting it to their wants.
She wakes up,
Tries to feel him by her side.
He sits there,

Smelling her body,
Listening her breath,
Stroking tenderly on the soft breasts,
Tasting the morning air, bringing promises and fears alike.

Was there a sense that something was amiss?
As they stood up,
Hand in hand,
Took their walking sticks.
For all he could sense, he couldn’t see how beautiful she looked.
For all the feelings her heart could take, neither could she..

dard, dard muskuraata hai, muskaan, muskuraata

writer’s note:
while reading it, please give proper emphasis on the two parts separated by comma. “dard” and “muskuraata hai” isn’t meant to be read as “dard muskuraata hai”.

Bolta hai kucch mujhse,
Par kehte kehte chup ho jaata hai.
Door se aanhein bharta,
Dard, muskuraata hai.

Darta hai unn deewaaron se,
Patthar ki buni lakeeron se.
Khaamoshi mein sehta, aage badhta,
Dard, muskuraata hai.

Sheeshon ko dekhta,
Todkar, unke tukde nihaarta hai.
Khud ki parchaayin se bhaagta,
Dard, muskuraata hai.

Peshaane pe lakeerein,
Aur aankhon ke aansu chupaata hai,
Par shabdon ka mohtaaj nahin ye,
Dard, muskuraata hai.

Sharmaata hai,
Phir mudke chala jaata hai.
Phir door se dekh,
Khilkhilaata,
itraata hai,
Dard,
dard muskuraata hai.

“Sometimes it’s better not to touch your dreams, take it from somebody who knows” – Hank Moody

Irate dismal dreams,
Broken in stages,
Caught me off-guard, this,
Heart Break and Champagne

You can move away,
But you’ll always be around.
How you manage to touch me,
When I don’t want to be found.
I still wake each morning,
With coffee and cigarettes.
Kiss the morning air,
Where you used to be near.
Feels so helpless, this,
Heart Break and Champagne

I walk alone,
Each day and night.
When I look in the mirror,
See condescending eyes.
You were my dream,
And I your chaperone,
How come I’ve been left,
To crash all alone?
Can I manage to escape, this,
Heart Break and Champagne

Deep rooted guilt,
The therapists say,
One drink would be enough,
To slide in the blade.
To sleep every night in the same bed,
Where dreams were made,
And dreams came to an end.
It kills me in places, this,
Heart Break and Champagne

Come near, come here,
I’m alone, cannot bear.
The gut’s wrenched but I put up a smile,
No one’s here,
But this,
Heart Break and Champagne.
